Varieties
Wallaroo
Wallaroo (tested as SWW21.001) is an exciting new wheat soon to be released by Trigall Australia.
This variety is a quick maturing winter wheat offering the ideal maturity to take advantage of an early break without the risk of frost damage. The ideal planting window is from mid-march through to the end of April. Wallaroo has excellent resistance to all three rusts and valuable levels of tolerance to pre-harvest sprouting.
Currently undergoing its final year of testing to confirm the preliminary classification of APW/AH.
Bennett
Bennett is a tall awnless wheat ideally suited to high and medium rainfall zones, with an early planting opportunity. In graze and grain operations optimal sowing time is from mid-March through to early May. Bennett provides excellent biomass production for grazing, hay, and grain. Bennett is a full winter wheat, with photoperiod sensitivity, and will generally flower 7-10 days later than EGA Wedgetail. This flowering window assists Bennett in reducing the risk of damage through frost exposure. Bennett also boasts strong Yellow Leaf Spot (YLS) resistance. Bennett is now susceptible to some pathotypes of stripe rust so must be monitored and controlled if stripe rust is detected.
Performance in NVT Trials: Bennett has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in NVT trials, particularly in high and medium rainfall zones. The variety has shown remarkable adaptability to diverse environmental conditions, making it a reliable dual purpose milling wheat choice for farmers across different regions.
Pascal
Pascal stands out as a versatile wheat variety, well-adapted to a range of conditions. Having a shorter height and strong straw make it suitable for both irrigation and rain-fed production, providing farmers with flexibility in their operations.
Pascal is a high yielding, early season spring wheat with Industry leading pre-harvesting sprouting tolerance, excellent standability with strong disease and grain package.
Australian Hard (AH) classification in Northern Zone
Australian Premium White (APW) classification in South Eastern, Southern and Western Zones.
Severn
Severn is a tall, awnless, quick winter variety, adaptable to a wide range of environmental conditions. It’s winter habit requires vernalisation so is not suitable for late sowing in warmer environments for hay and grain production. Severn performs best when planted early in the sowing window with favourable moisture and nutrition, allowing you to maximise its winter habit. Dense, early tillering trait and good regrowth potential provides quality forage for grazing. Currently R-MR to stripe rust pathotype affecting other varieties. Tall final plant height making it suitable for hay and silage in spring.
Excellent standability due to good straw strength provides the option of harvesting Severn for AWW milling grade in the Southern zone and white feed quality grain elsewhere. Severn provides flexibility, when sown early, with the possibility of combination of grazing, and/or silage, hay or grain harvest at maturity.
TAWL22.117
Currently being further tested TAWL22.117 is a quick to mid maturity main season spring wheat demonstrating very high yields in testing to date. It is rated as MR to the most virulent form of Stripe Rust, and is MRMS to Leaf and Stem rusts.
